Around 157.000 tonnes of food and leftovers totaling one billion euros end up in waste every year in Austria. With the initiative "Food is precious!" The Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism wants to counteract the throw-away trend.
The Viktualia Award, an award for responsible and conscious food handling, will be presented for the fifth time this year and is aimed at companies in areas such as agriculture, gastronomy, waste management or food production. Even schools, social organizations and individuals can use their exemplary projects against food waste until 30. Submit August. The winners of the Viktualia Award will be announced by a panel of experts and awarded in November.
