The transformation to a climate-neutral economy can be achieved through CO2-Compensations not achieved. And that a company that offsets its emissions with certificates can call itself climate-neutral is definitely questionable - CO2-compensated would be more appropriate as an expression. But even if there is still a lot of room for improvement in emissions trading, it is an essential means for many companies that are committed to climate protection - after all, a CO2-free living and doing business have so far only been possible for a few. In addition, trading in CO2-Certificates help the development of new technologies for CO2-To initiate and finance reduction. This can be seen, for example, from the German environmental NGO Atmosfair: This not only offers CO2-Compensations, but recently also installed the first plant for the production of CO2-neutral kerosene opened. Reduction, innovation and compensation must be thought together in order to cope with the human challenge of climate change.
