The joint study of the Center for Emerging Markets and Central Eastern Europe of the Vienna University of Economics and Business and the corporAID platform on "Challenges and strategies of Austrian companies in emerging and developing countries in times of the Covid-19 pandemic". Because: Despite a considerable drop in demand, interrupted supply chains and suspended projects, the companies surveyed - predominantly domestic internationalization pioneers - not going back to their core markets. Due to the rapid economic recovery in some developing and emerging countries, the majority sees the need to have an even stronger presence in the future - even if this requires a differentiated view of the markets. What the crisis made clear: Investments in production and management systems and in the transfer of know-how on site increase a company's resilience and competitiveness considerably.
