Food in the trash

One third of the world's food (1,6 billion tons annually) ends up in garbage, and the trend is rising. This analysis comes with a new Boston Consulting Group report that identifies inefficient supply chains and lack of awareness as the main reasons for food waste. Especially in Asia, the amount of garbage is rising so rapidly that the goal of reducing food waste worldwide by half compared to 2030 is barely achievable. The report calls on companies to better match supply and demand.
