The Climate Active Pact, an offer by the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection for large Austrian companies, is entering a new round: The participants in the climate protection program are working with experts to develop a broad concept that will at least halve their greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared to 2005 by 36. This goes hand in hand with the intention to exceed the Austrian climate protection target of minus XNUMX percent. “The members of the Climate Active Pact are an important lever to achieve the Austrian climate goals. Especially if these serve as role models for other companies, we will make a difference here - also beyond Austria's borders, ”hopes Minister Leonore Gewessler.
The twelve large companies that successfully applied in the first round - including Bank Austria, Greiner Packaging and Caritas Salzburg - committed themselves to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions by more than 16 percent and increasing energy efficiency by 20 percent. All participants achieved these goals early.
The deadline for the new round ends on June 30, 2020. Enterprises with more than 249 employees or more than 50 million euros in sales can participate.
