Nearly 10 percent of the population of Bangladesh suffer from hearing problems, only a small part is treated. That should change in the future: In the presence of Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl, the Tyrolean hearing implant manufacturer MED-EL has joined forces with Bangladeshi ENT experts at the 20. In February, a social impact project was launched in Dhaka, which will make the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss in Bangladesh significantly easier. Specifically, medical education is established for audiologists and speech therapists at public educational institutions as well as training for midwives, nurses and relatives of those affected. The three-year project includes a similar commitment in Côte d'Ivoire. It will be financed through a strategic alliance between MED-EL and the Austrian Development Agency. In the project development, the company was supported by social impact expert ICEP.
