CO2-free produced, packed or delivered wherever the eye can see! Advertising promises what climate-friendly consumers are looking for. Unfortunately, behind many of these claims there is no reduction in emissions, but the purchase of responsibility through GHG certificates. But business as usual plus a certificate cannot be an effective ecological responsibility of the economy. If we want to avert the catastrophic effects of the climate crisis, greenhouse gas emissions must be drastically reduced.
Business people who actually face the challenge of a climate-friendly transformation of their business models should therefore rely on the Science Based Targets Initiative set. Building on the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change IPCC the initiative offers a set of methods for corporate climate protection. In addition to the clear benefits for the planet, companies benefit from reduced costs, increased innovation and thus profitability. You minimize climate risks, increase the trust of stakeholders and can credibly communicate sustainability. Only those who follow this science-based reduction path can claim to take responsibility for the global climate!
